32-bit Apps are About to Die on AppStore. Don’t Miss to Identify if Your App Supports iOS 11 or Not. Here’s How

Before launching iOS 11, Apple had given several signs suggesting that 32-bit apps will no longer be supported in the new Operating System.

Finally, at WWDC 2017, Apple has confirmed with the release of the first iOS 11 beta that 32-bit apps will no longer support iOS 11 update.

With this announcement, many of you all, who have built an iOS application for your business, get in tension that whether the application will support iOS 11 or not. You must have confusion in your mind that how to know that whether the app will support or not.

Therefore, it is essential for you to find out that how your application is affected. No matter what category your application belongs to, you need to know the iOS 11 impacts on your application.

To make it easy for you to ensure that whether your app will support iOS 11 update or not, we have listed some of the steps that you can follow:

1. Search Your App in the App Store

You can try it yourself to know your app’s support with iOS 11. First, you need to install iOS 11 on your device. You can install iOS 11 no matter whether you have a developer account or not. To know more about this, click here.

After installing iOS 11 on your device, just head to the app store and search your application in the search bar. If your application appears in the search bar, it means your app is iOS 11 supportable. So, you can sit back and get relax.

However, if your application no longer appears on the search bar, it means that your application is not supportable with iOS 11 and it’s time to update your app.

To get more idea about this, you can check out the above image, where you can see that we have searched one application named “TouchArcade” in iOS 11 and it no longer appears in the list.

While in another picture you can see that we have searched the same app in iOS 10.3.2 and it appears in the list.

2. Check Last Updated Date of Your App

However, if you do not want to install iOS 11 and still want to check support of iOS for your app. You can follow this another step as here you just need to check the last updated date of your application.

If the last updated date of your app is before 1, June 2015, it won’t support iOS 11. But if the last updated date of your app is after 1st June 2015, it means your application will support iOS 11.

As you can see in the above image, the last updated date of “Pocket Frog” app is 15-May-2015 that means before 1st June 2015, so it means it won’t support iOS 11.

While in this second image, you can see that it does not appear in the search bar in iOS 11.

3. Use Your App Once Completely in iOS 11

Once you find it that your application is iOS 11 supportable, make sure you use it completely to check that is there any bug in your app. You can also ensure that your app is not crashing while using.

In case, if your app is crashing or any of its features is not working properly, you need to update your application as Apple has also stopped support for many of its frameworks, so there are chances that your app might be built in any of such frameworks.

Ask the Developer

If you find it that your application is not supportable with iOS 11 or it is crashing while using, you only have one option “ask the developers” because it would be good to update your application before the iOS 11 update rolls out officially. However, you can also get various other benefits of updating your 32-bit app to 64-bit.

No matter what category app you have for your business, you can easily update it with the help of developers. You can convert your iOS app into 64-bit iOS app and re-submit it to the Apple App Store, so your app users won’t face any problem while using it.
