Undrgrnd Futbol: Pickup Soccer App
Our client is a New York soccer player who organizes local pickup games. Filling those games meant chasing players one message at a time, so he wanted software to do the organizing for him. Space-O Technologies built Undrgrnd Futbol as a cross-platform mobile app where the local football community lives in one place. Organizers create a group, set up a pickup with date, time, location, and charges, then let the app notify every nearby player. Players discover games, tap once to join, and pay their share through Stripe or Apple Pay. The app runs on iOS and Android through Flutter, with a Laravel admin panel behind it.

About Undrgrnd Futbol
Undrgrnd Futbol brings a local football community into one app so players can find games, register, and play. Organizers stop working through group chats and phone contacts. The app handles the outreach for them.
A group owner sets up a pickup with event type, location, date, time, charges, and a cap on player numbers. Every nearby player receives a notification the moment it posts. Anyone interested taps Let’s Play, and they are in.
Player profiles carry a photo, bio, playing position, and footed preference, which helps organizers and other players know who is turning up. Payments run inside the app, and a Laravel admin panel gives the operator oversight of every group, game, and player on the platform.
How We Built the Pickup Soccer App
The engagement covered UI/UX design, a Flutter build serving both iOS and Android, a Laravel admin panel, and quality assurance. The product succeeds or fails on how fast a player moves from noticing a game to committing to it, so friction removal shaped most of the design decisions.
Group Creation for the Local Community
Requirement:
Organizers needed one place to gather a local football community rather than tracking players across scattered contact lists.
Solution:
The create-a-group flow captures name, location, description, and photo. Players join, and the network grows from there. The group becomes the standing audience for every pickup its owner posts afterward, so the recruiting work happens once instead of before every game.
Pickup Creation and Event Types
Requirement:
A single organizer needed to schedule many games across different formats, price points, and attendance limits.
Solution:
Group owners create a pickup with name, event type, location, date, time, charges, and a maximum player count. Different formats coexist under one group, so a five-a-side on Tuesday and a full-sided game on Sunday are handled through the same interface without workarounds.
Game Discovery and Instant Join
Requirement:
Players needed to find nearby games that suited their schedule and commit without a round of back-and-forth messaging.
Solution:
A Discover list surfaces pickups and groups with host and attendee details attached. A Let’s Play button joins the player to a game immediately. Seeing who else is already signed up matters here, since players decide partly on who they will be playing with.
Real-Time Maps and Push Notifications
Requirement:
Players had to know exactly which field a game was on, and to hear about new pickups as soon as they were posted.
Solution:
We integrated real-time maps with GPS to pin the exact pickup location. Push notifications fire when a pickup is created, or an organizer posts an event announcement. Speed matters, because pickup games fill fast and a delayed alert costs a player their place.
In-App Payments and Refunds
Requirement:
Paid games meant organizers and players needed a trusted way to handle charges, and the operator needed refunds to be manageable.
Solution:
Stripe and Apple Pay handle in-app payments for game fees. Players pay when they join rather than settling up at the field. The admin manages payments and processes refunds from the back end, which keeps disputes away from the organizer.
Laravel Admin Panel and Platform Oversight
Requirement:
The operator needed visibility across every group, pickup, and active player, plus tools to keep the community safe.
Solution:
We built a Laravel admin panel reporting on groups, pickups, active players, earnings, and commission. It also carries moderation tools for removing fake accounts and managing content. Community trust is fragile in a product where strangers meet in person, so moderation was built in rather than added later.
