Every private jet arriving at our client’s Arizona facility had to be inspected and documented on paper. Handwriting was hard to read between shifts, photos sat separately from the notes describing them, and nothing proved where an inspection happened. Space-O Technologies built Brakes Off to replace that process entirely. Technicians select an aircraft, capture each defect with photos and dictated notes, collect a digital signature, and generate a complete maintenance record from a phone or tablet. The custom software works offline in hangars and remote sites, then syncs to the cloud on reconnection. The client reports that Brakes Off automated roughly 80% of the inspection process and reduced duplicated work and errors by around 90%.

About Brakes Off
Brakes Off is cloud-based aviation maintenance software built for MRO providers serving private jet owners. It handles on-arrival and departure inspections that protect aircraft airworthiness. Technicians run the full walk-around from a mobile device rather than a clipboard.
Each defect becomes a structured record. Photos attach directly to the fault they document, notes can be dictated instead of typed, and a GPS stamp confirms where the inspection took place. Nothing depends on legible handwriting or on one operator remembering to brief the next.
Records live in the cloud and stay searchable afterward. Any past inspection can be retrieved with its photos, notes, and history intact, then exported as a PDF for an owner, an insurer, or an audit.
How We Developed a Custom MRO Inspection Platform
The engagement covered UI/UX design, a native iOS inspection app, a cloud backend for report storage and access, and quality assurance. The hard constraints came from the working environment. Hangars have poor connectivity, technicians work with their hands full, and a maintenance record has to hold up under dispute.
Digital Replacement for the Paper Inspection Report
Requirement:
The client needed to retire a handwritten inspection report that was slow to complete and easy to misread afterward.
Solution:
We rebuilt the inspection form inside the application. A technician selects an aircraft, enters order details and hours, and generates a complete on-arrival or departure report digitally. The structure of the original form is preserved, so technicians did not have to relearn a process they already knew well.
Photo Capture Tied to Each Defect
Requirement:
The old form carried a single “photos taken” checkbox, which left every image disconnected from the fault it was meant to document.
Solution:
Photos now attach to individual defects. An operator adds multiple images plus a written note within the same record, covering everything from dents and glass scratches to engine issues. Each image sits beside its own description, so nobody has to match a photo roll against a written list later.
Shared Records Across Shift Changes
Requirement:
Defects were explained verbally at handover, and unclear handwriting meant the incoming operator frequently misread the problem.
Solution:
Every inspection lives in one shared cloud record holding photos, notes, and full history. A technician picking up a job sees precisely what the previous operator found, in their words and their images. The verbal handover became a reference point rather than the only source of truth.
Digital Signature for Authorization
Requirement:
On paper, the operator collected a pilot or owner signature to authorize the work. The client wanted that step inside the application.
Solution:
A digital signature step lets the pilot or owner sign directly on the device to acknowledge the listed work. The signed record saves alongside the report itself. Authorization and documentation stay in one file rather than existing as a signature sheet filed somewhere separately.
Voice-to-Text Notes and Offline Mode
Requirement:
Long defect notes took time to type, and hangars and remote sites frequently have no internet connection at all.
Solution:
Siri voice-to-text lets technicians dictate defect descriptions instead of typing them. Offline mode handles the connectivity problem. Inspections are completed, photographed, and signed with no connection present, then sync to the cloud automatically once the device is back online.
GPS Verification and Searchable Archive
Requirement:
Paper reports carried no proof of location and were difficult to retrieve, which left the provider exposed during a dispute or insurance claim.
Solution:
Each report records a GPS location stamp confirming where it was created. Every past inspection is searchable, returning its photos, notes, and history in seconds. One-tap PDF export then shares a complete report by email or SMS, or prints it directly.
