Booking a cleaner used to mean phone calls and guesswork on price. Our client wanted to do for house cleaning what Uber did for rides, so Space-O Technologies built UpMaid as a two-sided marketplace. Hosts post a job with rooms, budget, and a task checklist. Contractors nearby browse those jobs, then apply or bargain on price in real time. The build covered three connected products, namely a host app, a contractor app, and a web admin panel. Airbnb calendar sync auto-posts a cleaning job around every guest check-in and check-out. The platform runs on iOS, Android, and web using Swift, Kotlin, React.js, and Node.js.

About UpMaid
UpMaid is an on-demand house cleaning app that connects hosts needing a clean home with contractors who clean for a living. Hosts describe the work, set a budget, and receive applications from nearby cleaners. Contractors choose the jobs that suit their area and rate.
Price is negotiated inside the app rather than over the phone. Both parties message each other, agree on terms, and complete the transaction without leaving the platform. Every conversation stays tied to the job it belongs to.
Behind the marketplace, an admin panel handles verification, oversight, and payouts. Space-O Technologies designed, developed, and tested UpMaid for iOS, Android, and web, then provided post-deployment support after launch.
How We Built the House Cleaning App
This on-demand app development project covered design, native iOS and Android builds, a web admin panel, quality assurance, and ongoing support. The marketplace had to serve two very different user groups while giving the operator full control over trust, money, and disputes.
Two-Sided Marketplace Architecture
Requirement:
A cleaning marketplace needs separate experiences for the people posting jobs and the people doing them, coordinated from a central point.
Solution:
UpMaid ships as three products sharing one real-time backend. The host app, contractor app, and web admin panel each serve a distinct role while reading from the same data. A posted job therefore reaches nearby contractors instantly, without a sync delay between systems.
Job Posting, Checklists, and Airbnb Sync
Requirement:
Hosts needed to describe a job precisely. Rental owners also needed to avoid re-posting the same job after every guest.
Solution:
Job posting captures address, room count, service type, budget, and a full task checklist. Hosts specify supplies the cleaner should bring. For rental properties, Airbnb calendar sync auto-posts a cleaning job around each check-in and check-out, so turnovers are covered without manual work.
Job Discovery and Price Bargaining
Requirement:
Contractors needed to find work that fit their service area and their rate, rather than scrolling through every listing on the platform.
Solution:
Browse jobs runs on radius search with list, calendar, and map views. Contractors apply directly or open a negotiation on price. A My Jobs area then tracks accepted, pending, and completed work with price and service details attached to each entry.
In-App Chat and Negotiation
Requirement:
Hosts and contractors had to settle details and price without moving the conversation to phone calls or messaging apps.
Solution:
In-app chat lets both sides negotiate price, clarify instructions, and exchange feedback. Each thread is attached to its specific job, so the agreement, the checklist, and the conversation stay together. Nothing about the deal happens outside the platform.
Payments, Earnings, and Reporting
Requirement:
Both sides needed a clear money trail. The operator also needed its own commission tracked automatically.
Solution:
Hosts get a payment history covering pending, accepted, and completed jobs. Contractors get a My Earnings dashboard with weekly, monthly, yearly, and custom-range reports. The admin sees contractor earnings, admin earnings, and platform totals, all available as downloadable reports.
Verification, Disputes, and Platform Oversight
Requirement:
Trust and safety carry the most weight in a home-services marketplace, since contractors enter private homes.
Solution:
The admin panel verifies contractors through photo identification, references, and criminal record checks. Administrators manage host accounts, review activity status, and oversee every job posting with its location, price, contractor, and checklist. Dispute resolution tools handle conflicts between the two parties directly.
